The Historical Committee assists in locating, collecting, studying, and preserving historical records and promoting the preservation and restoration of properties of historical significance to the county and directs the operation of the Gloucester Museum of History.

At least one member from each magisterial district, two at-large members, and up to eight additional countywide members are appointed for a three-year term. Committee Members are requested to volunteer monthly as docents at the Gloucester Museum of History.
